5% DISCOUNT ON NATIONAL ENTRIES!

To make it easier for you to attend the 2009 U.S. National Baton Twirling Championships and Festival of the Future, July 13-18, in Tucson, AZ, the USTA Board of Directors is offering you a 5% discount on your National and Festival entries!

“With rising financial burdens on many families during these tough economic times, we wanted to offer an incentive that hopefully will help you attend our national championships this year,” said USTA President John Chamberlain.

Downloadable entry forms, as well as schedule and hotel information, is available on USTA’s Web site, www.ustwirling.com. Online entry forms will be available soon. The entry deadline for the U.S. PreTrials is April 8. The entry deadline for Nationals and Festival is May 1.

2009 TWIRLING RESOLUTIONS

Many athletes started the new year by making resolutions to improve their twirling. Here are some of their resolutions. What’s yours?

"My resolution for this year is to be able to consistently do a 1 spin reverse illusion."  Brooke Read, 13, Beginner/Intermediate, CA
“My 2009 resolution is to do every routine in practice as if I were in competition. I want to make every practice count!” Danielle Cobb, age 19, Elite, VA
“My twirling resolution for 2009 is to work harder during practice and focus more on my body technique and my footwork!” Gina Kilner, age 12, Advanced, OH
“My 2009 resolution is to have all my routines and tricks mastered by Nationals!” Lynsey Jarett, age 15, Advanced, NY
“My resolution is to twirl at least six days a week and place in the top ten at the International Cup.”  Blair James, age 13, Advanced, KS
"My resolution is to make the most of my practice time and perfect my big tricks." Ashley Dolan, age 15, Advanced, CO
"My twirling resolution is to perfect my form by stretching, being on my toes, and 'no dead arms!'”  Madelaine Schmidt, age 10, Beginner, CO
"My 2009 twirling resolution is to find a way to juggle coaching while preparing for the LSAT and my law school applications. If I can find a way to do both well this year, I'll be happy!" Jason Lee, age 27, Elite, CA
"My New Year’s resolution is to try my hardest to do my best on all of my United Twirling teams and ‘rock the floor’ at Nationals.” Katie Tate, age 14, Intermediate, TN

HOLIDAY HAPPENINGS AROUND THE WORLD!

Many USTA twirlers performed for huge holiday crowds at events across the country and around the world during the holiday season.

Chelsea Flaum, feature twirler for Arapahoe High School in Centennial, CO, performed with the award-winning Arapahoe High School Warrior Marching Band in the Denver Parade of Lights, then traveled to London for the London New Year’s Day Parade!  She's pictured above left twirling outside of Windsor Castle!

Catherine Ramirez, Brianna Wilson, Savanna Bray, Rachel Koch and Ginny Stauffer, pictured above right, joined the United States Baton Twirling Alumni and Bowl Games of America to twirl in the Winn-Dixie Hometown Parade and at the Konica Minolta Gator Bowl in Jacksonville, FL. They joined over 2000 other twirlers from around the nation to perform for 70,000 fans. The five twirlers along with coach, April Glisson, University of Memphis Golden Girl, practiced over 18 hours creating and perfecting their routine.

If you have an exciting performance to share, email us at [email protected]!
