Team Wellington
Returns Home “2008 National Champions”!
“Team Wellington”,
coached by Adrienne Brady of Wellington, Florida, had
a very productive competition season which resulted in a couple of very
busy weeks in July. The team, which consists of 60+ girls from
kindergarten through 12th grade, competed in two National
Championships.
The girls started out
by attending the USTA National Championships in Daytona Beach, Florida on
July 17th. The Middle School Team earned one 2nd
place award and one 4th place award for their Show Corps
routines, and the High School Team earned two 2nd place awards
for their Show Corps routines. The Elementary School Team walked away
with two National Championships for their Show Corps
routines. The talent starts young in Wellington!
From Daytona, “Team
Wellington” was on to Boiling Springs, North Carolina
where they competed on July 25th & 26th in the DMA
National Team Competition. The girls competed in a variety of
events including Dance Twirl, Dance Line, Show Team w/ Twirl, Specialty
Team w/ Twirl, Novelty Team, School Line, School Halftime, and Show
Corps. Again, the girls were very successful in their performances.
The Elementary School Team walked away with three 3rd place
trophies, two 2nd place trophies, and five 1st place
trophies making them “National Champions” once again. The Middle
School Team had plenty to celebrate as well. They earned one 5th
place trophy, one 4th place trophy, one 3rd place
trophy, one 2nd place trophy, and six 1st place
trophies making them “National Champions” as well. “Team Wellington”
wasn't done winning yet. The High School Team achieved one 4th
place trophy, two 3rd place trophies, three 2nd place
trophies, and two 1st place trophies enabling them to join the
rest of the team as “National Champions”! The High School Team had
another shining moment when they were awarded “Most Outstanding High School
Team” for their “Fiddler” routine. They were invited to do the
routine again as a command performance during Opening Ceremonies on July
27th. “Team Wellington” has
plenty to celebrate!!
Coach Brady is
extremely proud of her team’s accomplishments and looks forward to another
successful competition season in 2009
starting with Twirl Mania International Championships!
Congratulations to Maaike de Langen (NBTA
twirler from Holland) with her both first places in open
intermediate solo and 2baton for the 20+ section at AYOP Nothre Dame
University! Thanks to all her 'American
friends' for showing her lots of good twirling stuff. She
had a fab time in South Bend.
