The Spencerette Baton Twirlers have secured a substantial grant for the "National Lottery" "Awards for All" programme. This has taken 4 years and they have received more than one rejection in their quest to obtain the grant. Finally this year they achieved success, thanks to alot of hard work form their Corps Directors and Victoria Gage , the niece of Gill Babb.
Once the award was agreed the Corps had a 6 week embargo not to speak with the press put on them, but they were allowed to tell their
members. This was done by Emily Babb producing a presentation that was shown to the Corps members at a Fun Day BBQ. The Athletes and their Parents were stunned by the enormity of what they had received, some were even reduced to tears! The Corps is now actively seeking new costumes, etc before their trip to Twirl Mania February 2009.
Kristilee Ginther won the Miss Majorette of Florida title in the Junior Division and was fortunate to have Dad and brother along with Mom to be there to see her wonderful performances. She was especially excited because her dad was so impressed that he decided the whole family is going to AYOP this year. So far Kristilee has had an incredible year and is the current Florida State Strut Champion, Three Baton and Rhythmic Twirl winner as well as the Junior Southeast Regional Two and Three Baton winner.
Emily Brinton, Lincoln, NE has just been named feature twirler for the University of Nebraska Cornhusker Marching Band for the 2008 football season. Brooke Walter, CA has held the position for the last four years.
