Rosilyn Lammers as she heads off to Florida State University and Leah
Stoffel as she will be attending the University of Central Florida where
she is planning on auditioning be become a UCF Majorette.
Congratulations to Samantha Harter (champion baton twirler from Maryland) on her recent engagement! Love, all your twirling friends from Delaware
We were waiting for the ink to dry....but now it has and I
would like to announce the new feature twirler at Indiana State University, Elyse Baker. Elyse had several
opportunities in front and opted for ISU because of the
twirling opportunities, and because of the academic programs that fit
perfectly with her career aspirations. She will be twirling for
both football and basketball, as well as some unique and exciting events
with the band, such as the Brickyard 400 and Indiana Pacers basketball
games. Elyse is interested in a career in Physical Therapy/Sports
trainer-type work, and the program at ISU is highly regarded!
(Someday when Elyse is working with a professional hockey team somewhere,
she'd better remember her friends!!!)
Please join me in congratulating Elyse on her twirling achievements, her
scholarship, and wish her well with the many opportunities that lie ahead.

RED
STAR TWIRLERS TO SHINE IN WASHINGTON
It’s been eighteen
years since the Red Star Twirlers were New Hampshire’s
representatives in George Walker Bush’s Inaugural Parade that cold
January day in 1989. Fast forward to the Fourth of July, 2007 , with
temperatures considerably higher, and
the Red Stars will once again proudly march up Constitution Avenue.
As number forty seven
in the line of march, The Red Stars have been selected to perform a two
minute routine for the reviewing stand, one of only three units asked
to do so. Coach Gina Hutchinson has chosen a medley of Yankee Doodle
from the Broadway show George M. and John Cougar Mellencamp’s “Rockin’ in
the USA” for
this command performance.
ON June 27, the team
will receive a Proclamation from Derry’s representatives
in the Legislature and Governor John Lynch. To commemorate this honor
for the State of new Hampshire.
The Red Star s will
depart at 6:00AM July 2 and be in Washington
for three days. IN addition to their parade appearance, the team
will perform a show of their own at the Jefferson Memorial in front
of the Tidal Basin
on July 5 at 11:00AM. The fast paced, patriotic show will feature
music from a Broadway show called “Mr. President” , more music from George
M., and the Liberty Overture by the Boston Pops former
conductor John Williams. Ironically, John Cougar Mellencamp is
performing with the Pops in Boston,
while The Red Stars are performing to his music in Washington.
One of the most
poignant moments for the twenty two member team, will be the
opportunity to be part of the wreath laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery. The
team has also made arrangements to put flowers on the graves of all New Hampshire
soldiers who have died in Iraq,
including Justin Rollins who came from Coach Hutchinson’s hometown of Newport, New Hampshire and
is buried in section 60 at Arlington.
Parade step off is
11:45 AM on the Fourth with The Red Stars being number forty seven. Wearing
their stylish new red, white and blue sequin costumes with red teardrop hats,
The Red Stars will certainly add theperfect colors for this parade,
expected to be watched by 500,000 spectators.
For many years the
Illinois twirler and former University of Colorado feature twirler Amy Garman
Jones has called Orlando home, the end of the summer she will be
relocating to the Souther California Area. Amy's husband has worked for the
Walt Disney company for years in Orlando and has been promoted to the Vice
President of Finance for Disneyland. She looks forward to getting involved
in the California Twirling scene!
Two Time
Champions West Chester University won the Twirl
Mania Collegiate Classic Line February 16-19, 2007 and on Feb. 3,
2007, Tammy Russell, Holly Russell and Laurie Harvey also captured 1st
at the Intercollegiate National Baton Twirling Championship. The
girls competed against colleges and twirlers from across the United
States. All three twirlers are coached by Mrs. Elaine Russell and the
Russell's All Star Twirling and Dance Studio. All three twirlers
are a part of the West Chester University Incomparable Golden Rams Marching
Band for football, basketball and pep
rallies. This is such an honor for WCU and
for Coatesville where the girls have trained for the last ten years.
Congratulations to Texas A
& M-Corpus Christi’s “Island Girl,”
Jennifer L. Kotzur, for representing both TAMUCC and the state of Texas at
the 2007 NBTA All-American Tournament of Champion Championships held at
Silverado HS in Las Vegas, NV on
May 18-19th The “Island Girl,” placed 2nd in both College
Fight Song and Open College Solo, right behind her fellow Island
twirler and friend, California’s
Shannon Dresser of the Univ. of Hawaii.
Jennifer also place first in the Open and TOC Sr. Adv.
Basic Strut, Int. Solo and X-Strut, and Beg. 2-Baton. Jennifer feels
very honored and proud that she was able to represent the Lone Star State
extremely well, as the only Texas competitor,
at such a prestigious event. Also, she’d like to thank the
Island Univ, TAMUCC’s Rec Sports, her advisor, Mrs. Shelley Knight, &
Island Corp Auxiliary Performers for allowing her the opportunity to
represent the Islanders on the collegiate level. A special thank you
and appreciation goes Jennifer’s mother, Mrs. Charlotte Kotzur, fellow
Texan Shane Downy, Harry Brown, her fellow college competitors, all
of her twirling friends, and Kris Heggman and all of the wonderful
TOC Staff for all of there words of inspiration, encouragement, and
wisdom and support that they have not only given her at the
competition but, for how they have truly inspired her to strive for
her goals, not only as an independent twirler but, as a young woman as
well.
Good Luck to Jennifer
as continues to competing this summer, we know you’ll represent AM-CC
and your state with tradition, spirit, and pride. We look
forward to seeing our Island Girl twirling on the Island in
the Fall! Go Islanders! “Reach for the Stars and Achieve!”

MEMORIAL SERVICE A
memorial service will be held at AYOP in loving memory of Andrea Birdcreek
NBTA coach
and judge.
"THE
BROKEN CHAIN" We little knew that morning that
GOD was going to call your name. In life we loved you dearly; in
death we do the same. It broke our hearts to lose you; you did not go
alone; For part of us went with you, the day GOD called you home. You left
us peaceful memories; your love is still our guide; And though we
cannot see you, you are always at our side. Our family chain is
broken, and nothing seems the same; But as GOD calls us one by
one, the Chain will link again.
There are many people that have requested to have a short
memorial service at AYOP. Christine Zoll is working
with a Notre Dame priest, has arranged for the original chapel on
campus next to the large chapel. The ceremony will start about 6:00
p. m. Due to the fact that the facility is very small, there is
only room for about 50 people. Contact Christine Zoll at the following
e-mail address: [email protected]
