CONGRATULATIONS

Congratulations to Theresa Baumgartner & Bryn Porter who will be celebrating their fairytale wedding at Disney World October 08, 2007. Theresa competed many years at Twirl Mania from Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. Also Congratulations on their daughter Annabelle Porter born June 30, 2007.

 

Congratulations to Heather Yearsley of Delaware (2007 Miss College Majorette of Delaware, DE 2007 Collegiate Strut and Solo Champion)! She is expecting her first child in NOVEMBER!

 

Tessah Ivey, coach of Rhapsody Baton in Florida, has announced her engagement to Patrick.

 

Michelle Israel, NBTA judge/coach from Illinois is expecting in March.

 

Congratulations to Alysha Depp, coach from Pennsylvania, and her husband for the birth of their first born.  Sterling was born in November.

 

Congratuations to Meredith Sigler, Feature twirler for the "Pride of Oklahoma" University of Oklahoma Marching band.  She had an incredible feature on NBC's presentation of the 2007 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.  She wowed the NY City crowd, as well as the millions of viewers at home, with her great two- baton performance!  Way to show the world what baton twirlers can do!!!!

New to California, originally from Orlando Florida, Morgan Jones won the Beginner State Solo Championships 0-6.

 

Manuela (DeLuca) and Mark welcomed their fourth child, baby girl Martina Kesia born November 16^th.  Manuela is a former champion, coach and judge from Italy.

 

Tracey Gangi and Jeff Johnson were married on Sept. 22, 2007 in Woburn, MA.  Jeff got another taste of what life with Tracey will be like when he met so many "baton" people in the receiving line.  Tracey was fortunate enough to be able to invite so many from her other family, including students (present and former) and friends.  They included: Major Margie Gilbert, Barbara Kupras, Tracy Mernin, Lesley (Mah) Collins, Kristi (Kupras) Ochs, Ann (Harding) King, Margaret Harding, Adrienne Royal, Emma Swift, Jordan Foster, Chrissy Palermo, Arielle & Danielle Black, Katie Yeaton, Nadine Luongo, Alison Leonard, and, of course, those who are both family and baton family: Devin White, Alyssa & Olivia Kane & sisters Elaine Kane and Diane George. Tracey's Matrons of Honor.  

Tracey and Jeff will be living in Woburn, MA.

 

Are you a High School Musical 2 fan?  Rachel Joy Kahan is too.  Rachel is from California and enjoys doing some acting in her spare time.  She's a member of SAG, Screen Actors Guild, which has opened up some fun doors for her.  Recently she was booked to play the part of a contestant on the "3-Minute Game Show" which is airing on the Disney Channel on Monday nights in October.  But, you have to look fast, because it really is only 3 minutes!  Rachel had a blast at the shoot and meeting Monique Coleman.  You can watch for Rachel doing background acting on some shows this fall like Criminal Minds, Desperate Housewives, The Watch and Big Shots. Rachel loves to work and since she's home -schooled, she enjoys getting to "school on set" with her other acting friends and set teachers.  Rachel thinks it's funny that directors are a lot like twirling coaches.  Her coaches always say "one more time" and the directors yell "back to one" but neither of them really mean "1 more time".

Collegiate Classic @ Disney World in February in Orlando, Florida

 

Kristen Tate, a sophomore student at the University of Mississippi is enjoying her second year as the feature twirler for the Ole Miss, Pride of the South Marching Band.

MICHIGAN TWIRLERS COMPETE AT BAND COMPETITION

 "Janet's Twirling Sweethearts", The "Jr. Angels", and Shawnah Joyce, recently performed for the Michigan Competing Bands Association (MCBA) competition held in Trenton, MI.  After being seen in a local parade, the twirlers were asked to perform as post competition entertainment while scores were being tallied. The crowd approximately 1,300-1,500 were mesmerized since baton twirling is not generally used in MCBA bands.  This was a BIG STEP for baton twirling in MI.  "Janet's Twirling Sweethearts" are the current Juv. Parade Corps champs for WTA, and The "Jr. Angels" are the Novice Dance and Twirl champs.  Shawnah Joyce did an awesome solo routine to music from Blast.  All the twirlers are students of Janet Vilag-Janet's School of Dance in Taylor, MI.

 

University of Northern Iowa

Will be holding auditions for the Feature Twirler position for 2008. The PMB Feature Twirler performs as a member of the UNI Panther Marching Band. The Panther Marching Band, the largest student organization on the University of Northern Iowa campus, combines Panther spirit, pride, musicianship, and more than 100 years of tradition to create renowned gridiron excitement. Known for a professional approach to performance, the Panther Marching Band is recognized for its dynamic style, innovative drill, and sensitive musical interpretation. The Panther Marching Band thrills audiences at home football games in the indoor UNI-Dome, as well as during road trips to other university stadiums and exhibitions. The University of Northern Iowa is proud to offer the Karen-Ewoldt Kruse Memorial Scholarship to the Panther Marching Band Feature Twirler. If you are interested in auditioning, please forward an application packet that includes a videotape or DVD of at least two of your past performances, as well as a resume of your accomplishments, by March 1, 2008. Applications should be mailed to the address below. After your packet has been reviewed, I will contact you again if I wish to arrange a live audition.                                                                                                                  April Glisson,   a 3rd year Communications /Broadcasting major was chosen again as the 2007 U of M "Golden Girl" feature baton twirler for the University of Memphis.  She performs at all pregame & halftime shows during the football season & has performed at several half time shows for the Tigers Basketball games also.  She & the Tigerettes also travel to many away games to perform & show their support of the Memphis Tigers.

April is a 2006, 2004, 2003, 2002, 2001 USTA World Team member, multiple Gold Medalist & honorary "Encore" team member.  While attending college in Memphis on a baton scholarship, she is a long way from her home in California, has made many new friends, loves the South & is very grateful to her extended baton family!  She also coaches USTA students in Tennessee as part of the Champions Baton Club & has taught for TTI-Tennessee Twirlers in both Memphis & Nashville the past 2 years.
