Obtaining proper measurements is a simple but critical task necessary to guarantee the best possible fit for your custom costume. Begin with a standard cloth or vinyl measuring tape and check to see that it is in good repair. Do not try to measure yourself! Allow someone else to gather these measurements for you. Measurements taken over a leotard, undergarments or bathing suit are preferred. The measuring tape should not be pulled tight nor allowed to be loose and be sure to check for twisting. Select the largest of your measurements. Our costumes are made to be a sleek competitive fit and we do not allow for grow room.
Measure with arms held out at shoulder height, over bust and across back with the tape measure remaining parallel from front to back.
Measure around the natural waistline which is the narrowest point below the ribcage and directly above the belly button. If you're not sure where your natural waistline is bend at your side. The crease that forms indicates your natural waistline.
Measure around the widest part of the buttocks, parallel to the door.
Start tape measure at top of shoulder. Run tape down front of body through crotch and back up the same shoulder. Hold one hand under the bust and at small of back and measure comfortably over buttocks to allow for all the curves of the body.
Measure from edge of shoulder to bottom of wrist bone, done on a straight arm.
Measure on a straight arm around the bicep.
Measure around forearm midway from the elbow to the wrist.
Measure around the wrist bone.
